The Route: Emmer-Compascuum

The village originated along the Hoofdkanaal, Kanaal A, B and C, the Scholtenskanaal, the Oosterdiep and the Westerdiep.
Around 1890 a mill was built on the Main Canal, which was powered by a steam engine fired with peat. The Grenszicht flour mill (octagonal upper barrow with scaffolding) was built here in 1907. The miller is often present and will be happy to receive you in the mill with the accompanying museum.

In the houseboat of Nelis and Leentje in Emmer-Erfscheidenveen you will find a coffee and tea room in a museum with items from grandmother’s time. After the tour, Nelis takes his accordion to make it a party together with Lenie.

From Emmer-Compascuum you can also enjoy cycling and walking along the Runde.
